TIBET -
QINGHAI TRAIN ODYSSEY
Days 1 & 2:
*Arrive in Beijing where your guide will greet you at Beijing International Airport. Transfer to the train station and board night train to Lhasa. This trip will take approximate 48 hours as you travel on the world’s highest railway and sweep past the breathtaking countryside.
Day 3:
Arrive in Lhasa, where you will stay at the Tibet Hotel *4-star. Tour Tibet’s capital at your leisure.
Day 4:
Start the day visiting Lhasa's Potala Palace, built in the 640's during the reign of King Songtsan Gampo. Next, visit the Jokhang Monastery, a massive 7th century building filled with chapels and chambers. Enjoy a fun trip to circular Barkhor Street where you can test your bargaining skills with local merchants. Also visit the incredible Tibetan Museum.
Day 5:
This morning, tour the largest monastery in the world, the Drepung Monastery, founded in 1416 by one of Tsong Khapa's disciples. Continue the day visiting the Sera Monastery, one of the three largest monasteries dedicated to Gelugpa Buddhism. Finally, see Norbu Lingka, the summer palace of the revered Dalai Lama.
Day 6:
Enjoy your last morning in the Roof of the World at your leisure. In the afternoon, head to the airport for your flight to Beijing.
